One thing I learned early, and I'm sure you agree, is the
importance of having at least one surefire winner of a program
in your repertoire - a perennial evergreen show that not
only serves as its own strong revenue stream, but increases
your ability to book your other shows.
This has been the secret to my success. While I have a
variety of shows that I offer, my mainstay is a program
that I have been presenting consistently since 1990 called
"INTO THE RAINFOREST-an interactive journey."
I average more than 100 bookings a year with this dynamic
program. More importantly, out of these 100 schools, I am
invited back to present another of my programs at an average
of sixty-five percent (65%) per year (data available upon
request).
Over the last five years, due to tremendous word-of-mouth
publicity, I have had repeated requests to license this
show to other presenters around the country. After giving
it a great deal of consideration, both from a business and
legal perspective, I am now pleased to be able to offer
this program on a license basis, to a select group of school
presenters.
If you are looking for a way to give your business a real
energy boost, I am certain that this will be truly a win-win
scenario for both of us.
Here are the answers to some commonly asked questions:
IS THE SHOW DIFFICULT TO LEARN?
It is extremely easy to present. The show follows an entertaining
and logical sequence, has a variety of compelling props,
and can be delivered by any competent presenter. Each presenter
that I have trained so far has been able to successfully
master the presentation in a very short time.
WHAT IS THE APPROPRIATE AGE GROUP FOR THE SHOW?
It can be presented simultaneously to a wide age range:
Grades PK-8. It is often presented in smaller groups based
on age and audience size, although it can readily be presented
to this entire age range in one sitting. It is also presentable
to very young children (ages 2 ½ to 4) in daycare
centers and pre-school. It can be presented to very old
people in retirement centers. It also is appropriate in
settings when the students are joined by their parents or
members of the community such as nighttime school shows,
cubscout meetings, or library shows.
HOW LONG IS THE PRESENTATION?
The entire presentation is approximately 45 minutes long.
About ten minutes of that is with accompanying audio visual
materials. The program can be set up in 15 minutes.
HOW MANY STUDENTS CAN BE INCLUDED?
Although I have had several successful presentations with
groups of more than 750, the ideal maximum size is approximately
300.
WHAT IS THE PURCHASE PRICE FOR THE RIGHTS TO PRESENT THE
SHOW?
The licensing fee for the right to present this program
for a full two year period in your current territory is
$5,000.00. Based on average industry standards, a basic
breakeven point should be reached after performing the show
only nine times.
WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED TO ME FOR THIS PRICE?
I will provide you with all of the props in order to do
the show (including original paintings, organic materials
from the forest, and a musical instrument; a script; a disk
containing graphics for promotional materials; video materials
(for large or small screen projection), All of these materials
are copyrighted and protected for your use by law.
WHAT ELSE WILL I NEED?
If your audiences exceed 150, you will need a VCR and a
videoprojector. I trust you have a VCR. However, if you
do not have a videoprojector, I have several plans by which
you can acquire a new or used one at my cost.. If your audience
size is normally less than 150, the program can be done
on two television sets connected by a "splitter."
and a VCR. I will provide the wiring and splitter.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAM?
The program is a multi-faceted presentation of all of the
key elements of the Rainforest environment. Some of the
primary components of the show are:
> A Sensory narrative walk through the rainforest;
> A discussion of resources lost to rainforest destruction
(appropriate to age);
> A film of Tropical wildlife in Central America and
the Amazon;
> An illustration of a threatened Food Chain using animal
paintings and organic
materials;
> A Demonstration of everyday products derived from the
Tropics;
> A singalong "rap" song describing things
students can do to help preserve Rainforests
WHAT SIZE PROTECTED TERRITORY WILL I HAVE?
At a minimum, you are entitled to mail brochures and present
this program in an area within 2 hours from your home by
car.
BESIDES SCHOOLS, CAN I PRESENT THE PROGRAM ANYWHERE ELSE?
This program can be presented at libraries, daycamps, daycare
centers, pre-schools, state parks, nature centers, retirement
centers, museums, and zoos.
CAN I REALLY BE SUCCESSFUL PRESENTING SOMEONE ELES'S SHOW?
Absolutely. I know from first hand experience. During the
last 12 years, due to overbookings, expansion, and a protracted
case of pneumonia, I had to hire four other presenters to
deliver this show; all to great success. Two of the presenters
worked in the Mid-Atlantic States and two in Southern California.
At one point, I was in need of a quick substitute and trained
my driver Jeff, who was a very shy college student. Following
one of his first shows at a school in a wealthy New York
suburb, during my standard follow up call, the school parent
said they would like to book the show for the next year.
When I told her I would look at my schedule she said, "Please
if it all possible, can you send Jeff? The kids loved him."
HOW ELSE CAN I CREATE REVENUE THROUGH THIS PROGRAM?
At the end of your assembly program you can invite teachers
and students to visit tropical rainforests all over the
world. I have used one non-profit agency that offers inexpensive
trips, teacher graduate credits, excellent accommodations,
and safe passage throughout. I accompanied a group of teachers
as a participant to Panama, and sent a school group to visit
Ecuador. The non-profit agency took care of every detail.
I went to Panama at no charge to myself, and earned $3000
on the school's trip to Ecuador. The director of this non-profit
has agreed to work with any of my Licensees.
HERE ARE SOME QUOTES FROM "SATISFIED CUSTOMERS:"
"Our teachers enjoyed the Rainforest show so much,
that I hired Mr. Segal to come back next year, to present
at all eight of our elementary schools."
Barbara Mucchia, District Coordinator School #8 Linden,
NJ
"The Rainforest program engaged our students to such
an extent, that we have begun sending students to Ecuador
for Summer study. Mr. Segal arranged the trip and the students
are leaving soon for their fourth trip in which they will
be taking a motor for a tribe's use in their boat. Mr. Segal
has been back to do all of his programs here."
Karen Seaton Buckingham Friends School Lahaska, PA
"Mr. Segal did his Rainforest program in April '2001
for all of our students grades K-8. The response to the
program was so vocal, that I hired him to come back and
do three more programs the following year, expending our
entire budget!"
Robert Tholen, Principal, Anna Klein School West New York,
NJ
"The program was full of sensory simulation
it
really made us feel like we were in a rainforest. The children
loved learning to make the call of a toucan and the rainstorm
simulation was unlike anything I have ever heard. This is
our 4th year we have had Mr. Segal do this program for our
3rd and 5th graders."
Jeanine Gibbs Drum Point E'ltry Brick NJ

the students were engaged in all of their senses
as well as their intellects. I noticed students that never
raise their hands, even in classroom, answering questions

the program switches formats every few minutes,
each piece holding the students' attention..it went from

of native instruments, followed by a singalong rap song
which was followed by interactive storytelling about a jungle
encounter
and I think there was more!!"

Rainforest program supports their classroom curriculum.
They have had the program for 5 straight years."
